摘要：
Extensive systematic calorimetric studies in the Peter A. Rock Thermochemistry Laboratory of the surface energies and water adsorption energies of nanoparticles identify trends in behavior with major implications for materials science and environmental behavior. Differences in surface energies between different phases cause crossovers in phase stability, changes in dehydration reactions, and large shifts in redox equilibria. For nanoparticles. This lecture will discuss both the calorimetric methodology and the results and implications of these studies. Transitpon metal oxide systems applicable to catalysis, batteries, and geochemical processes will be emphasized.
